A new world !!

She was from a small town, got admission in a college at metro city. For her it was a complete different and new culture, environment , the way of talking, dressing style everything.

on the other side she was extremely shy and simple girl so tried hard to be like people around her, but always failed to do so . because everything was different between them. One day while working in lab she was introduced to a new world : which changed her for forever.. which was so different from the world she was living from childhood.

It was “the virtual world”
After some instructions and suggestions she stepped in it, it was all new to her so she was much curious about it. At initially she had some friends over there but getting influenced by others she wanted more and more friends , she wanted to become popular in a short span of time.

Time passed, and she got much involved with all this, loved to spend whole day with chatting, social networking sites and so on as being addicted to them she couldn’t tried to imagine her life without all of them. Now she was popular, she always loved to see so many scraps and messages waiting for her, till she faced some worse situations by getting some non-sense written in them , she tried to ignore them but her every time she get them she got hurt. It was quite unexpected many thoughts like: why I am getting hurt by all those, these are cool.. people over here talk in the same manner now I am like them … was going on in her mind.

One day while chatting with a girl named siya ..
She: hi
Siya : hello :)
After some conversation she come up with :
She: why you had so few friends in your friend list? Don’t you want to be popular or don’t you want more friends?
Siya : no. I prefer being stranger for the world rather getting any cheap popularity.
Ok I am having classes so I will leave now.
Bbye and take care :)
She didn’t utter a single word just replied bye.

After siya got offline she was lying on her bed and thinking.. the girl was right? I was more happy when I was unknown, being confused with lots of questions for her own she switched the computer on , sign in to her account again and now she was so clear with the things she was going to do. She deleted some friends who were just show piece of her friend list as well some friends she didn’t liked but kept them to feel proud by having such a huge friends in the list, now was actually feeling refreshed.

Now she became much choosy with the friends and any contact made online, then realized this world was also filled with so many better people to do friendship. It took some time but now she was really blessed with some Good friends who care for her, showed believe in her for her studies, for her look, encouraged her to do something good ,for whom she was always welcomed to share anything any feeling, her happiness, sadness, some who annoy her just to cheer her up and she turned out to be a brilliant student, a nice friend all over again and above all she met with herself “who was better then so many people of the both world” and now popularity wasn’t any issue for her , she was happy in being less-popular !! everything was so perfect now her friendship, studies as well she wasn’t alone anymore and now she loved to be in this virtual world !!

“ sometimes we are unknown with our demands from the life.. we become so confused what we want and when we got results, we come up with "we never wished for this to happen" !! “

Hey that's a nice take on the topic of relationships..'a virtual world that is drifting us away from 'the real world'.

shail said...

Yeah, its better to have few good friends rather than a list full of almost-strangers. :)

Deepa,

That's the reality of the virtual world, all the social barriers, the caste-creed, status just melts over the messenger, which according to me, is a good thing. But the bad thing is, I guess, is the addiction.

a good take on virtual world...

the addiction just reflects the desires to get noticed, to get appreciation, etc... some feel it is going with the norm..

Good one :)

We've lost ourself so badly in the online-virtual world that we no longer know what reality is.

Good luck :)

very true what u says that sometimes we get lost in this virtual world that we forget a lot of things and get confused too...
and yes you are more happy when you dont have too many friends i guess she is like me i think a lot and get involved with all people virtual or not so virtual..

and things play on my mind even afterwards ...

beautiful article ...

Hello Deepa :)

Nice try! Well as for the virtual friends well, everything is life has two sides to it so one ought to be careful while adjudging the kind of risk they're taking.

As long as the risk pays off it's nice but if one takes some 'flirtatious' people in the virtual world way to seriously it could prove to be a havoc. It's important to know where to draw al line.

Having said that,I'm sure there are some lovely people out there whom we can chance upon.Cheers!

I really liked this post! You have brought to the point a lot of damages virtual social networking does to one's real social life and also to one's own self.
All the best!

A nice way to talk out the mistakes many make, increasing their friend count only to realise later the problems they create.
Not overbearing & simple..I liked it ! :)
Goodluck for the contest!

I'm often surprised (and a little jealous) by the huge friend lists that some Facebook users have piled up. But on the other hand, I often find it to be a little sad. How much time must it take to get these lists together, and how much real interaction is happening with all of these people. As you said, it may be just for show.
